sugarhouse bbq platterBBQ – Yup, BBQ right to your car window. Call your order in ahead of time for the quickest turn around and enjoy BBQ seven days a week. You heard us, Sugarhouse BBQ are open seven days a week, which means you can get your Q via drive through even on a Sunday.

Our favorites from this two decade plus smoke house include the smoked turkey and pulled pork; order the Big Bill’s Platter, ask for extra meat, order half turkey half pork, a side of beans and cucumber salad and you’re set. In fact, you’ll be set for two meals.

crown burger and fries fry sauce
Crown Burgers – the infamous Crown Burger with pastrami
Greek – If you’re in the mood for gyros, burgers, souvlaki and other Greek treats you’re in luck. Salt Lake City is awash with great Greek fast food options, virtually all of which have drive thru options. Here’s a list of them all, plus some recommendations:

Astro Burger – multiple locations
Apollo Burger- multiple locations
Crown Burger – multiple locations, be sure to try the pastrami laden Crown Burger
Mad Greek – multiple locations, hands down our favorite gyro in SLC
Yanni’s Greek Express – just a single location in Sugarhouse, order their special house red (meat) sauce if you go for the great gyros

hectors chile relleno
Hector’s – chile relleno
Mexican – Several fast food options such as Alberto’s and Beto’s dot the valley, but for something slightly different, we recommend these two places:

Hector’s – On the East side of town, check out this restaurant, known for its portions, value and most importantly – quality.

Highlights from the menu include the combo plates such as the carne asada plate, or pictured chile relleno plate. Plates are hefty affairs and most come with the finest tortilla in town, either corn or flour, your choice.

lone star taqueria shrimp tacos
Lone Star Taqueria – shrimp tacos
Lone Star Taqueria – Further South and open seven days a week, try this famed taqueria once featured on TV’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Be warned this place is routinely packed, and fair warning, the drive thru speaker isn’t the best in the world either.

Despite those quibbles, we’ve never had an order go wrong here, which is oh so critical with drive thru ordering. Every last time we’ve drove away we’ve left with delicious tacos and burritos at a wallet friendly price.
