Bambara * – With the onset of winter and the upcoming opening of Utah’s ski resorts, Executive Chef Nathan Powers of Bambara, has created a “Snowstorm” lunch special to benefit the Utah Avalanche Center. From Monday, Nov. 10 through Friday, Nov. 14, for the fifth year in a row, Bambara will donate one dollar to the center for each three-course ‘Powers’ Lunch’ special purchased.

“I am passionate about supporting the Utah Avalanche Center. They provide critical daily mountain weather and avalanche condition reports,” said Powers. “Through local donations they are able to continue to operate to keep us all safe in the backcountry. It’s very important we all support them as a community.”

Powers’ daily three-course lunch special, priced at $16, changes daily and includes a choice of organic greens or cup of the daily soup selection, and one of chef Powers’ special house-made warm, gooey chocolate chip cookies. On Mondays, guests can order the wild mushroom and chicken fettuccini; Powers’ Cubano sandwich on Tuesdays; his savory mussels and frites on Wednesdays; the guest favorite Croque Monsieur and Fridays’ selection is a tuna belly confit melt.

“The Utah Avalanche Center provides backcountry users with the avalanche and mountain reports that they need to know where to find the best conditions and ride safely. Knowing current and anticipated conditions and how avalanches work is the best way to stay safe and have fun,” said Paul Diegel, Utah Avalanche Center’s Executive Director. “Avalanche advisories and education in Utah depend on donations, grants, and special events and we really appreciate the support that Nathan and Bambara have provided over the years.”
