This May 10th treat mom to something special, as a number of SLC’s finest put on some fabulous spreads. Here’s a roundup of a few notable options that recently hit our desk:

Bambara * – Executive Chef Nathan Powers celebrates Utah moms at Bambara with a gourmet Mother’s Day brunch buffet on Sunday, May 10, 2015 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. From delicious bite-size pastries and desserts to chef’s delicious lamb hash with poached egg and mint béarnaise sauce or indulgent buttermilk biscuits with elk sausage gravy, Chef Powers created the Mother’s Day menu to delight and satisfy. With plenty of options for the whole family to enjoy, brunch is available for $46 for adults, $20 for children ages 6-12 and $36 for senior citizens. Children under 5 eat free.

Bambara’s Mother’s Day buffet includes fresh baked goods, a carving station with mustard glazed ham and organic turkey breast, made-to-order egg dishes and a delicious variety of decadent pastries. Specialties out of Chef Powers’ kitchen include mustard glazed ham with roasted pineapple, poached prawns, brioche French toast, roasted spring asparagus and other delicacies. In addition to Mother’s Day brunch, Bambara will also serve its nightly, award-winning dinner menu of seasonal selections using the best organic and sustainable ingredients, beginning at 5 p.m.

Caffe Niche * – Caffe Niche on 300 South will be featuring a special three course brunch menu from Executive Chef Ethan Lappe on Mother’s Day, May 10, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Highlights include starter courses of house-made biscuits and gravy; a tasty parfait of vanilla nut granola, Greek yogurt and fresh berries; or a selection of fresh seasonal fruit. Entrée selections tempt with Caffe Niche’s classic breakfast plate; Kobe corned beef hash; wild organic mushroom scramble; brioche French toast; fish tacos; or apple and bleu cheese salad. Dessert options are an airy chocolate verrine or olive oil cake with pistachios and lemon cremeax. Bacon, eggs, sausage, tomatoes, avocados and more are also available a la carte.

Lead bartender Chris Bradshaw has concocted some specialty cocktails to complement the brunch fare. Mimosas, Bellinis, Bloody Marys and Harvey Wallbangers are available in addition to a tasty and light Aperol spritz. Fresh house-squeezed juices accompany coffee, teas, sparkling waters and sodas.

Brunch costs $30 person for adults and $15 for children age 10 and under and is free of charge for children under the age of 3.* Seating will be available on Niche’s secluded garden patio, weather permitting. Niche will not be open for dinner on Mother’s Day.

Cuisine Unlimited – If time won’t allow for cooking or the family just wants to enjoy the day at home, Cuisine Unlimited can prepare all or any part of a delicious brunch. The entire menu is priced at $40.00 per person. Highlights include banana-pecan stuffed brioche, crêpe torte with smoked salmon and herb cream cheese, and a light jicama citrus salad. Each order will be provided with a complimentary posy bouquet for Mom.

“A Mother’s Day brunch offers the opportunity to honor mothers, grandmothers and the amazing women who shape our lives. And there are all kinds of reasons to love a brunch,” says Maxine Turner, President of Cuisine Unlimited. “It is the one meal that most easily mingles family and friends.”

Orders must be made by Thursday, May 7th, and can be picked up at Cuisine Unlimited catering kitchens at 4641 S. Cherry Street in Salt Lake on Friday, May 8 or Saturday May 9 from 9am – 12pm. Delivery can be arranged on Sunday for a small additional fee.

Cafe Trio – The Café Trio Cottonwood location will be serving a Mother’s Day brunch buffet plus their regular dinner menu along with several Mother’s Day specials. Brunch runs 9:30am – 3:00pm and costs $29.99 for adults, $15.99 children 6 – 12 and free for those under 5.

Current Fish And Oyster – Chef Logan Crew and his culinary team have created delicious hot and cold small plates, composed salads, sandwiches, farm-fresh egg dishes, and delicious fresh oyster offerings. Pastry chef Alexa Norlin creates delectable desserts to round out the meal. Always with a highlight on the freshness and high quality of the ingredients, the cuisine is straightforward with a spotlight on healthy choices and sustainability.

The menu entices with the best of east and west coast oysters, along with hot plates of the best chowder in town, tempura green beans and grilled west coast oysters. Cold plate selections of house smoked organic salmon, smoked clam dip and Alaskan king crab lettuce wraps complement thoughtful salad selections like organic kale, caramelized organic salmon, seafood cobb and chopped spinach. Eggs and entrée highlights include a crab Benedict, fried chicken and waffle, spring vegetable hash, cornmeal biscuits and gravy, shrimp and white cheddar grits and the 3rd and 3rd omelet.

The emphasis on vibrant beverage offerings is equal to the focus on the cuisine. James Santangelo, beverage director for The LaSalle and Trio Restaurant Dining Groups and well-known wine and spirit educator, has created a fun line-up of brunch drinks. In addition to the traditional Bloody Mary, he offers a Verde Maria with tequila, roasted tomatillo, cucumber and cilantro. A Violet Fizz with gin, creme de violette, lemon, egg white and soda is offered in addition to seasonal Bellinis, Irish coffee, coffee selections by La Barba and Numi loose leaf teas.

Oasis Cafe * – Oasis Cafe on 500 East will serve a Mother’s Day buffet on Sunday, May 10 from 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Cost for adults is $35, for children 12 and under $18, and is free of charge for children under the age of 3.* The buffet is a favorite with locals and will include highlights like the popular prime rib carving station, shrimp filled enchiladas, maple/mustard glazed salmon, cheese blintzes with blueberry sauce, light salads and delicious pastries and a chocolate fountain for dessert.

Oasis Cafe’s beautiful courtyard patio, an urban oasis, is now open for dining too. Seasonal flowers grace the courtyard in a profusion of color.

Faustina * – Faustina in downtown Salt Lake will serve up a brunch buffet on Mother’s Day, May 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Special offerings include prime rib with horseradish cream sauce; roast turkey with silky gravy and mashed potatoes, gougères with Gruyère cheese, French toast; and a wide selection of salads, pastries and desserts. Brunch costs $40 person for adults and $15 for children under the age of 12 and is free of charge for children under the age of 3.* Faustina will be closed for dinner on Easter Sunday.

Managing Partner Tyler Jolley has created a special $3 Mimosa bar that includes a choice of juices: orange, blood orange, pomegranate, peach, pear, cranberry, grapefruit or pineapple.

“We just love this holiday and to see some of our regular customers with their moms,” said Jolley. “Dinner on Mother’s Day is nearly as popular our weekend brunch! We are hoping for great weather so we can show off our new plantings on our gorgeous patio.”
