A week of dining adventures

Submitted by on June 10, 2010 – 8:16 pmOne Comment

Salt Lake is already a great place to taste flavours from around the globe. However next week, SLC diners will have even more opportunities than normal, to sample a number of diverse dishes from far flung countries. A special week long event will run from Monday June 14th through till Sunday June 20th. Utah refugees from a wide range of foreign countries will teach chefs how to prepare a traditional dish from their homeland. These entrées will then be offered as nightly specials at local SLC restaurants.

A portion of the sales from each entree will also be donated to the Utah Refugee Coalition and its Pathways to Self Sufficiency program. The week long event comes prior to national Refugee Day on June 20th. 11 different Salt Lake restaurants will be participating in the event.

Participating restaurants (and their adopted cuisine) are as follows:

Café Trio – Burma
Café Madrid – Bhutan
Liberty Heights Fresh – Iran
Log Haven – Somalia
Lugano – Iraq
Metropolitan – Northern Sudan
Oasis Cafe – Bhutan
Sage’s Café – Ethiopia
Squatters – To be announced
Tony Caputo’s Market and Deli– Eastern European
Wabi Sabi Japanese Fusion & Sushi – Burma
