Sapa Bar and Grill
722 S State St, SLC, UT 84111
Website: http://www.sapabarandgrill.com
Source: In Utah This Week

It looks like the long wait for Sapa is finally over. In case you weren’t aware of this restaurant, Sapa is the latest endeavour from the owners of the popular Pho Green Papaya. The restaurant is built around centuries old, imported wooden Vietnamese structures. The restaurant recently acquired a full liquor license and opened July 9th (with little to no announcements I should add). Their website is still a work in progress, but their menu is Asian centric with a sushi bar to boot.

Yellowfin
1166 E 2100 S, Salt Lake City

Reported over on the Salt City Food blog is the demise of the Brookside broiler and Grill, in Sugarhouse. Gone is the odd mix of Mongolian barbecue and grilled meats. In it’s place should be a new sushi restaurant. Which begs the question, does SLC really need another. Heck is there still demand for more?

Mo’ Bettah Steaks
335 W. 1830 South, Salt Lake City
Website: http://www.mobettahsteaks.com/
Source: Salt Lake Tribune

Brothers Kimo and Kalani Mack bring their Hawaiian BBQ from Bountiful into Salt Lake City. Mo’ Bettah Steaks promises authentic Hawaiian style plates. Think teriykai steak, kalua pig and pulehu chicken all accompanied by popular side staples like macaroni salad and rice.

Scaddy’s
1842 S. 300 West, Salt Lake City

Burgers, shakes, fries and “to-die-for chicken fingers” according to information passed to Kathy Stephenson over in the Tribune. A new restaurant from stalwarts of the St George restaurant scene.

Legends Pub & Grill
677 S. 200 West, Salt Lake City
Website: http://www.whylegends.com/
Source: Salt Lake Tribune

Occupying the former Iggy’s location downtown. Legend’s appears to be your typical sports pub with food, tvs and whatnot. The menu checks all the boxes you would expect with a mix of burgers, sandwiches, pizzas and more.

Smashburger
2100 S. 1028 East, in Salt Lake City
3513 S. 2700 West, West Valley City

Website: http://www.smashburger.com/
Source: Salt Lake Tribune

It seems like all the national burger chains are muscling in for a bit of the SLC burger buck. Hot on the heels of In-n-Out, Counter Burger and Five guys comes Smash Burger. Smash Burger’s USP seems to be that they quite literally smash lumps of meat onto their grill, reputedly to seal in the flavor. Quite how this translates with their “smash chicken” is not quite as apparent…

Saffron Grill
2778 W. 12600 South, Riverton
(801) 302-1001

Source: Deseret Morning News

A new restaurant for Riverton serving up an eclectic mix according to the Deseret news: “The family-operated restaurant serves Mediterranean and American cuisine, including Persian kebabs, Greek gyros, saffron rice and burgers.”
