I used to love green papaya. However, it seems that ever since they opened up Sapa in downtown Salt Lake City, there food options have changed drastically. As someone that has grown up with Vietnamese food, Green Papaya once offered a very diverse selection. They no longer have a diverse menu anymore, and only serve the common Pho and other dishes that I can find anywhere else. I would like to see Bun Bo Hue, dishes similar to seven courses of beef, and many more appear on their menu again.

I also work out near there and have visited Pho Green Papaya at least 2 or 3 times a month since December. The Pho is seriously great and the staff couldn't be friendlier. I've also sampled a few other dishes that were pretty good as well (the shortribs, albeit a little fatty are excellent!). Everyone should definitely check this place out for some great Vietnamese food.

My coworkers and I have gone here about twice a week since they opened. The owner is very nice and greets us when we walk in. Great Pho.

We ate there when we were passing through town when two of the restaurants we had wanted to eat at were both closed. I looked around and thought all the food people were eating looked Vietnamese. We were the only non-Asian people eating there. There were some Thai dishes on the menu, so we ordered those. I've never seen a Vietnamese restaurant before. In Orlando, all the Vietnamese own Chinese restaurants. The food was good and the bill was a reasonable $25 for my hubby and I who got an order of spring rolls, some pad thai and a thai curry and waters to drink.

Yeah some of the Pho's look very, er, interesting to say the least.

That said when we visited everyone in the place was eating the stuff and it was a wide mix of clientele.

I am really excited by the entree options, some of the fish dishes seem really different.

I'm glad you made the trek out to West Valley. I work near Pho Green Papaya and have eaten there several times-I'm a true believer. I have learned the following:

The family that owns it also owns and operates restaurants in the Bay Area and Portland. They are going to build a restaurant on 900 south State, where the Pearl used to be.

Also, there are items on the menu, particulary in the hard-to-define section below the pho, that feature very fatty beef that may not be palatable to western tastes. I had a beef noodle stew that was tough to get through. The server tried to warn me, but I insisted...
